Maria Slams Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico early Wednesday as a powerful Category 4 storm with winds of 155 mph. Damage on the island was extensive causing complete power outages to the entire population. The storm is expected to veer north into the Atlantic. A direct hit on the U.S. mainland is not expected.

Hurricane Maria is record setting in that it is the only time three Category 4 storms have hit the U.S. or its territories in a single season, with Irma and Harvey being the other two. Hopefully, this is the last such storm of what has been a very busy season.
